Propane Tank Prices

October 29, 2010 by Admin

Purchasing a propane tank is an option

considered by many propane consumers. When a propane consumer owns his/her propane tank, rather than leasing a supplier tank, he/she has the option to obtain propane price quotes from multiple local suppliers and order a delivery from the supplier offering the lowest current propane price per gallon.  Considering this potential propane cost savings, many propane consumers are interested in finding propane tanks for sale.

The following prices are estimated for common residential propane tank sizes:

  • 120 to 150 Gal (Aboveground tank) -- $500 and up
  • 500 Gal (Aboveground tank) -- $850 and up
  • 500 Gal (Underground tank) -- $1,500 and up
  • 1,000 Gal (Aboveground tank) -- $1,400 and up
  • 1,000 Gal (Underground tank) -- $3,000 and up

These prices may or may not include labor, trenching, excavation, tank support blocks, propane regulators and other parts and fittings necessary to complete the propane tank installation. Propane permit fees may be extra.

Propane consumers interested in propane tanks for sale should contact several propane suppliers for local quotes on propane tank purchase and installation pricing.  If propane consumers discover that local propane suppliers do not offer propane tanks for sale, they should call propane suppliers in neighboring communities to request a propane tank purchase and installation quote.

When proceeding with a propane tank purchase, propane consumers should obtain written installation approval from all local fire and building officials (and any other applicable authorities)  prior to committing to the propane tank purchase transaction.
